Shorea Wood is a tropical hardwood that is found in Southeast Asia, Indonesia, & the Phillipines. It has characteristics that are similar to teak wood in terms of appearance, strength & durability. It is especially resistant to damage from insects, fungus & moisture decay. Its original color will last a year or two before it begins its natural fading process. Like teak, it will develop an inviting gray patina. Many people desire this vintage look. However, if you prefer to keep the original color, you will need to rub it down with linseed or teak oil periodically.
